Selection procedure
For each academic year LUC the Hague will select a number of qualified students to study at the college. After a student has applied the selection procedure consists of three steps.
Selection Procedure Steps
- After you have completed the online application form, added all required documentation and sent us the required hard copies, we will check whether your file is complete and whether you meet the minimum requirements. If you do not meet the minimum requirements, you will be informed.
- Compete applications that meet the minimum requirements are sent to the reading committee. They will review all the applications, paying special attention to your letter of motivation and application essay. Based on the whole admission package, the readers will propose applicants for an admission interview. If you are not selected for an interview, you will be informed.
- Netherlands, this will be a person to person interview. For applicants who live outside the Netherlands, we will organise an interview by telephone or skype.
Based on the application package and the feedback from both the reader and interviewer, the Dean of LUC the Hague decides who will be invited to come and study at the college. You will be informed in writing about this decision. It is possible that you may be placed on the reserve list, which means that you will receive an offer to come and study at LUC the Hague if an additional place becomes available.
Pre-University College, Leiden University
Because they have already been through a similar process in Leiden, applicants to LUC the Hague who have graduated or will graduate from Pre-University College at Leiden University have a shorter selection procedure. They must hand in the complete application package (including a recommendation from someone at Pre-University College, the Application Essay and a Letter of Motivation), but they will be automatically selected for an interview. They do not have to pay an application fee.
