What is LUC The Hague

Liberal Arts & Sciences

The concept of Liberal Arts & Sciences is old, it goes back to the fifth Century and the very first universities in medieval Europe. This included Leiden University, the oldest university in the Netherlands, founded in 1575, where the Bachelor students studied the 'Artes Liberales'.

Characteristics

Leiden University College The Hague offers you a bachelor’s (honours) degree programme in Liberal Arts & Sciences, taught in English in an international environment. LUC The Hague has taken the two broad domains Peace & Justice and Sustainability as unique, profiling elements in the curriculum. Interdisciplinarity is central to all learning at LUC The Hague.

Active learning

Our vision on education is that we should provide an environment in which students can learn, rather than have teachers stand in front of a class to dispense knowledge and then test whether it has been absorbed at the end of the semester. We choose for progressive, constant, and active learning that involves students at every stage.

Tutorial support

LUC The Hague tutors are essential to the feeling of ‘community’ in the college, and they are always available to give help and advice to students, whether on academic issues or other things about college life.
